About This Class

This short, approachable class guides students step-by-step into Plow Pose (Halasana), beginning from Child's Pose and moving through a supine progression — hugging knees to chest, extending legs to the sky, and slowly lowering feet toward the floor behind the head. Instructor Bryan Kest places paramount importance on two priorities: keeping the neck feeling safe and maintaining a smooth, deep breath throughout. Several hand position variations are offered — palms facing up, palms facing down, hands on the lower back, grabbing the feet or big toes, or interlacing fingers and pressing them into the ground — making the pose accessible to a wide range of practitioners. Kest also advises against placing anything bulky under the head or neck, and cautions students not to force the feet to the floor unless it feels genuinely safe and comfortable. A note on spinal length rounds out the cues, encouraging a natural curve without exaggeration. Ideal for students curious about inversions and spinal stretching who need a careful, well-scaffolded entry point.
