About This Class

Hot Sauce II is a 104-minute vigorous flow class led by Bryan Kest that opens in Child's Pose with an extended breath-awareness tutorial, establishing nasal, deep, smooth breathing as the non-negotiable thread of the entire practice. The warm-up builds through a six-movement Sun Salutation sequence (Down Dog, Forward Fold, Cobra, Plank) repeated multiple times before branching into balancing table variations with opposing arm and leg extensions. The standing series is the class's backbone: wide-legged forward folds, Warrior/Hero poses, Low Lunge with a sweep into Extended Side Angle and its straightened-leg variation, and a demanding "Awkward Airplane" one-legged balance that progressively loads the glutes, quads, psoas, and core. Deep hip-opening work includes a bound squat (Malasana), a shoulder-wrap under the bent leg ("Mr./Mrs. Thighburn"), and standing backbends (Camel). The floor sequence moves through Plow, Shoulderstand, supine twists, Navasana (Boat Pose) with a straddle variation, and a knees-to-chest counter pose. The class closes with a seated eyes-closed gratitude meditation and Savasana. Throughout, Bryan consistently de-emphasizes depth and range in favor of calming the nervous system, finding personal boundaries, and practicing equanimity under challenge — explicitly framing the physical practice as a vehicle for mental stillness.

    Another favorite of mine!

May not be one of my top favorites but I still enjoyed this practice and added it to my favorites. Warmup #1 and strong one-leg balance in the beginning. The supported side arm balance series complete a great warmup, followed by a strong warrior series (pain!) with no vinyasas in between. Bryan substitutes wide-leg forward folds combined with different upper body and spine stretches for the vinyasas. Meditation starts at the 1hr 30min mark.
