About This Class

In this grounding meditation, instructor Brian Gallo leads a 30-minute seated practice centered on the theme of acceptance. Rather than pushing away difficult feelings or getting lost in mental narratives, students are invited to locate emotions and sensations in the physical body, observe them with curiosity, and simply watch them move. Brian outlines three phases of meditation — noticing distraction, returning attention to the breath, and the deeper merging of attention and breath — emphasizing that all three phases are equally valid and important. He shares a personal story of meditating while physically unwell to illustrate how acceptance of what is, even in its most uncomfortable form, can reset the nervous system and reduce the suffering added by fear and story. The class involves no movement; students sit with a straight spine and relaxed shoulders, following the breath as an anchor throughout, with extended periods of silence punctuated by gentle verbal guidance.
