About This Class
In this 17-minute seated meditation, Bryan Kest guides students through the "Meditation of Wisdom," a deceptively simple yet deeply challenging practice rooted in single-pointed concentration. Students are invited to find a comfortable, tall-spined seated position with soft shoulders and closed eyes, then rest their awareness on the triangular patch of skin between the tip of the nose and the corners of the lips — noticing breath sensation, temperature, and subtle vibration in that region. Bryan frames the session as a direct confrontation with the mind's greatest addiction: its habitual thought patterns. Drawing on an Einstein quote and references to neuroscience research, he argues that a quiet mind is the antidote to stress-driven disease, and that the effort of concentration — regardless of how well one "succeeds" — steadily quiets mental chatter, dissolves habitual conditioning, and opens up genuine insight and perspective. Whenever the mind drifts, students are cued to gently but firmly pull their attention back. The class closes with an invitation to rest in savasana or transition into the day, making it suitable for any time.
